Christopher DeAngelis brings 19 years of management and governance experience in cooperatives to Apple Street Market, including consumer-owned, worker-owned and multi-stakeholder grocery stores. He was drawn to cooperatives’ democratic principles and left community organizing to work in the areas of retail purchasing, merchandizing, marketing, physical plant management, wholesale sales, project management, and bookkeeping.
As General Manager of Oneota Community Food Cooperative, Christopher DeAngelis oversaw a $2 million expansion, doubling the store’s square footage, boosting sales, and making the grocer a regional shopping destination. As Finance Manager of Just Local Food Cooperative, he guided the cooperative through a strategic planning process and transitioned the co-op to a structure with a new management team, an all-staff assembly, and a multi-stakeholder board. When not at work he pursued and completed a degree in community economic development focused on the efforts of food cooperatives to expand food access in under served communities.
