Owners Vote to Dissolve Apple Street Market

On September 19, 2021, Apple Street Market owners voted to dissolve the market. The vote was 27 in favor and 1 abstention. The vote was recommended by members of the board, who had previously voted to start the dissolution process. Primary Reasons for Dissolution: Apple Street Market lost access to a final, important source of funding from New Market Tax Credits in 2019 due to a changing tax environment. Soon after, Northside Engaged in Sustainable Transformation (NEST) opted to develop 4145 Apple Street into affordable housing. After an exhaustive location search, supporters of Apple Street Market could not find a path to open a financially viable worker- and community-owned grocery.
